Going Global at the Marin County Fair

Blog

The Marin County Fair offers something for everyone. This year the Marin County Fair is Going Global: Connecting Cultures complete with attractions, interactive exhibits and contests that offer the best in family fun.

Mez Design has partnered with the Marin County Fair on more than half a dozen times in the past ten years, creating unique and award-winning marketing programs. Always based on a specific theme, past Fair posters have featured the Golden Gate bridge, Aquatic Adventures of Marin, and the Mars landing, among others. This year we were asked to create a vintage travel poster that celebrates the global diversity of talent and culinary delights that make this year’s Fair unique. The poster branding extends to variety of printed materials from the exhibitors guide, the Fair magazine, banners, advertising, and tickets. This year, Mez Design created and produced the website. Using a CMS platform, the site has been updated easily as the make up of the Fair took shape during planning and marketing, and will serve to document the action daily during the Fair. Ride On!

Blog

Marin County Bicycle CoalitionI have to say that I have been a lifelong cyclist, and can’t remember a time when I wasn’t riding a bike. A year ago, we were asked to re-design the brand identity for Marin County Bike Coalition (MCBC). Naturally, I was interested in this opportunity for a few reasons. First, because of my interest and passion for cycling, and second to work with a great group that is making a positive difference in my community. MCBC been steadily improving Marin County’s road and paths for walkers and bikers since 1998. They also have advocated for permanent bike racks, bike lane striping, road stencils and much more. In addition, their mission is to reduce road congestion and greenhouse gas emissions. They also increase opportunities for daily physical activity, teach children to be skilled and safe bike riders and illustrate that bicycling is environmentally and physically the responsible thing to do!

MCBC has also made significant progress in creating plans to connect a number of towns in Marin County with appropriate bike paths and re-open old rail tunnels that will assist cyclists and walkers with safe and reliable routes. Their goal is for 20% of trips in Marin County to be made by walking or bicycling.

Marin County Bicycle CoalitionThe re-branding effort that was successfully applied to banners, t-shirts, water bottles, booths, bike jerseys, website and bus advertising has generated a significant increase in brand awareness for MCBC and has doubled their membership. It has been great to work with such a dedicated and authentic group of people that are committed to creating the healthiest environment possible for their families, who understand the benefits of daily physical activities for all ages.
